SHEcares was formed by Dr Susana Pereira and Midwife Kristina Sexton in 2018. They both have many years experience in providing care to expectant mothers, their babies and families.
Having worked together for a number of years, they realised three things:
having an obstetrician and midwife working closely together to care for women meant that the level of care they were able to provide equated to more than the sum of their individual expertise.
the NHS is a wonderful system and one of the best of its kind in the world. However, as with any healthcare system, its’ goal is to achieve the greatest good for the greatest number which at times may not be best for the individual.
the length and flexibility of appointments, and access to specialist teams, with all the associated benefits, can be problematic.
They explored how they could combine their passion for caring for mothers-to-be taking all of these into consideration and so SHEcares was born.
