The NHS offers a fantastic service to all and we are very proud to provide care for mothers-to-be as NHS employees. However, we understand that the timing of appointments can sometimes be hard to fit around the other commitments of life, like work and family. The length of appointments may also leave you feeling like you haven’t had the chance to ask all those questions you have, or to fully discuss your thoughts and preferences around labour and birth. You may also prefer to see the same person all through your pregnancy with all the benefits this offers. Similarly, you may have been put on a ‘low risk’ pathway and therefore will only see midwives, but feel you could benefit from seeing an obstetrician as well at some point during your pregnancy.
At SHEcares, we are committed to providing the time and expertise to allow you to explore your thoughts and feelings around your pregnancy, whilst answering any questions or concerns you may have in the comfort of your own home. All appointments will be carried out by a registered Midwife and include a full antenatal check on both you and your baby’s wellbeing.
SHEcares does not aim to replace your NHS antenatal care completely, but instead offer a service to run hand-in-hand with the care you receive from your booking hospital. We strongly recommend that you book with your local hospital and have your booking and 28 week bloods taken by them, as they will require this information in order to care for you during labour and birth.
We offer a full range of antenatal care options ranging from one off appointments to address any specific concerns you have at any point, or to formulate your birth plan, to full care throughout your pregnancy as the perfect adjunct to the care you receive from your local maternity service. This can include scans and consultations with a Consultant Obstetrician which will be carried out at Kingston Hospital Maternity Department. Please note, we do not provide emergency care. If you suffer from any of the following during your pregnancy, it is vital that you contact the maternity department you are booked with immediately:
blurred vision or flashing lights in your eyes
leaking of liquor (fluid around your baby)
persistent itching, particularly on the palms of your hands or soles of your feet
severe abdominal pain
change or reduction in baby’s movements
